A hidden gem called: Block Island, RI.

Located 9 miles south of Main land and 14 miles east of Montauk Point, Long Island, NY.
This small island is a hidden gem in the Atlantic Ocean.

Block island is known for it's gorgeous beaches, charming spots, and stunning coastal views. However, there's a lot more to see and do in the Island.
Over 50 stores and specialty shops and numerous art galleries.
Numerous restaurants, different cuisines and plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy, such as hiking, biking, kayaking, and much more.

How to get to the Island:
1) The most common way is by Ferry.
2) You can also take a quick 13-15 minute plane ride.
3) You can also take a boat and stay at a fun Marina, which takes me to my next tip.

Where to stay:
I would recommend Champlis Resort and Marina
We recently stayed at one of their newly renovated rooms.
We had a double queen bed room and it was perfect for our family of 4.

The nice thing about the hotel and a highlight for the kids was definitely the pool. Here are a few other amenities you can find there!

  • 42 newly renovated guest rooms
  • Full service deep-water marina
  • Galley House Waterfront Restaurant -
    a full service restaurant
  • The Cafe Boutique, where we had breakfast and pick up and go.
  • Onsite Parking, super convenient if you're bringing your vehicle to the island. Which I would recommend, specially if you're coming with kids. Make sure to reserve a vehicle spot on the ferry in advance.
  • Charcoal Grills
  • Pet Friendly
  • Pier 76 Dock Bar – Over the water double deck bar
with unparalleled views of the Great Salt Pond
  • Poolside Service

We also enjoyed:
The girls loved seeing all the hermit crabs, fishes, and crabs around the marina.

What to do:
1) You can find so many outdoor activities like sailing, kayaking, parasailing, bike riding, hiking, horseback riding, bird-watching, snorkeling and fishing.
2)Visit a farm. Abrams Animal Farm, fun activity for the kids. You can see kangaroos, lemurs, tortoises, bunny, camels, chickens, alpacas, goats and more.
3) Mohegan Bluffs view point and check out the stairs
4) South East Lighthouse
5) Block Island North Light and Block Islands National Wildlife Refuge
6) Visit several beaches, so beautiful!
7) Stroll downtown for some fun shopping
8) Go on a Ghost Tour or historical tour
9) Rent a moped
With most properties in Block Island being historical, it's so hard to find a place with a pool. We loved spending our days here, the kids had a blast playing at the pool at Champlins hotel and marina.
